Chandel, 06/02/2021: Two days training cum demonstration programme on “Production, Post Harvest Management and Value Addition of Citrus Fruit” organised by Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Chandel and sponsored by Central Institute of Horticulture, Nagaland concluded today. Dr. Y. Prabhabati Devi, Course Coordinator gave key note address and conducted demonstration on Processing of Orange, Lime and Amla. Dr. Ch. Premabati Devi, Scientist (Horticulture) delivered lecture on the topic “Production Technology of Citrus Fruits” and Dr. Arati Ningombam, Scientist (Entomology) delivered lecture on the topic “Insect Pest Management in Citrus”. The programme concluded with vote of thanks from Dr. A. Ameeta Devi, Head, KVK Chandel. The programme was attended by  26 farmers and staff of KVK Chandel.

Chandel, 30/10/2020:

KVK, Chandel celebrated one month long POSHAN MAAH during the month of September, 2020. As a part of the programme, awareness training cum demonstration for AWW, farm women and adolescent girls were conducted on the theme “Importance of nutri-thali, nutrition gardening and biofortified  food for the eradication of malnutrition and also for food and nutritional security”. During the programme, nutri-thali from locally available fruits and vegetables of different ethnic groups were developed. Different types of garden such as backyard nutri-garden, terrace garden and vertical garden with different biofortified varieties were popularized for getting all year round good nutrition. Krishak Ghosti for AWW and farm women were organized and nutri-seed kits sponsored by IFFCO were also distributed. Other nutri-seeds and fruits plants were also distributed for the establishment of nutri-garden at AWW centres and at KVK garden too. Package of practices for growing of different nutri-vegetables were also distributed to AWW and farm women. Nutrition gardens were established at Anganwadi centre and KVK farm under POSHAN MAAH celebration.

29/09/2020, Chandel:

A two days training cum Input injection programme  on “Cultivation of Sweet/Baby corn in Maize based Cropping System to insure 300% cropping intensity” sponsored under Maize collaborative Project: ICAR-Indian Institute of Maize Research, PAU Campus, Ludhiana, Punjab organized jointly by Krishi Vigyan Kendra Chandel and ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region Manipur Centre, Imphal West has been started today at Conference Hall, Krishi Vigyan Kendra-Chandel. The  function was grace by Shri. Ruwndar David Boyes, International Humanitarian and Development-Freelane Consultant and currently involve in Farming and Coffee plantation. Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Guest addressed the participants to put in their best efforts in farming activities. He also inculcated the farmers that curiosity and adopting scientific farming are the component of a successful farmer.

Dr. Kl. Levish (Agronomy) KVK Chandel spoke on the importance and its Scientific Techniques of growing Sweet/Baby corn. The programme was attended by  30 farmers from different  villages of Chandel District and staff of KVK Chandel were also participated in the said programme. Inputs like Hybrid Sweet Corn, Mustard, Pea were also distributed to the farmers.

Chandel, 17/09/2020:

Poshan Abhiyan cum Farm women training was conducted today at Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Chandel in collaboration with IFFCO. The event was attended by Sh. Manglem Monsang,  11^th Pantha, Member of District Council, Autonomous District Council, Chandel;  Roshnichand Devi,  CDPO, Department of Social Welfare, Chandel, Government of Manipur and Dr. Deepak Singh, Sr. Scientist & Head, KVK Chandel as Chief Guest, Guest of Honour and President respectively. The Government of India has launched Poshan Abhiyaan, a multi-ministerial convergence mission with a vision to address malnutrition in a targeted approach to bring nutrition to the centre-stage of the National Development Agenda. And under Poshan Abhiyaan, the month of September is observed as Poshan Maah or Nutrition month every year, since 2018. Sh. Manglem Monsang in his speech encourage the Anganwadi Workers and Farm Women to take care of their health and their family by adopting knowledge taught by the experts and emphasize health is wealth. Roshnichand Devi while delivering her speech, she inculcated the participants who were being invited from all the blocks of the district to mobilize and bolster people’s participation to bring nutrition awareness in each family of the district.  Dr. Deepak Singh informed that KVK is popularizing nutrition gardening in the district and various training on nutrition has been conducted. He requested the participants to approach KVK for knowledge transfer and training they require. During the event, training programme on the topic of models of Nutri-garden, Nutri-thali for balanced diet, bio-fortified varieties in nutrition and Package of practices of vegetables & horticultural crops were taught by KVK experts – Dr. Y. Prabhabati Devi, SMS (Home Science) cum Nodal Officer – Poshan Maah, Chandel; Ts. Leenda Monsang, SMS (Plant Breeding) and Ps. Lavid Anal, SMS (Horticulture).  Thereafter, vegetable seeds were distributed to the participants. 40 Anganwadi Workers, 16 farm women of the district and staff of KVK Chandel have attended the said event.

Chandel, 22/02/2020:

The one month long Skill Training on Small Poultry Farmer which was commenced on 24/01/2020 was concluded on 22/02/2020  at Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Chandel. The skill training on small poultry farmers was sponsored by Agriculture Skill Council of India (ASCI). It is worth mentioning that the same training was also conducted last year for the farmers of Chandel. The Skill Training was attended by  20 Farmers. The inaugural programme on 23/01/2020 was attended by  Dr. N. Prakash, Joint Director, ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Manipur Centre; Dr. Khaidem Surchandra, Joint Director, Veterinary & Animal Husbandry Department, Chandel District and Dr. Deepak Singh, Head and Sr. Scientist, KVK Chandel as Chief Guest, Guest of Honour and Functional President respectively.  While the closing programme was attended by Dr. Deepak Singh, Sr. Scientist & Head, KVK Chandel; Dr. R. Samery, Veterinary Officer, Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Department, Chandel and  staff of KVK Chandel.

Chandel, 10th February, 2020: The 15^th Scientific Advisory Committee Meeting was conducted today at Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Chandel. The meeting was attended by Dr. A. Chinglenkhomba Meetei, MCS, Addl. Deputy Commissioner/Project Director, DRDA; Dr. N. Prakash, Joint Director, ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Manipur Centre; Dr. Kh. Surchandra Singh, Joint Director, Veterinary & Animal Husbandry, Chandel; Dr. Dipak Nath, Dy. Director, CAU- Extension Education, Imphal; Ts Gladny Monsang, District Agriculture Officer, Chandel; Dr. Deepak Singh, Sr. Scientist & Head, KVK Chandel; Dr. Y. Rama Krishna, Sr. Scientist & Head, KVK Ukhrul; Dr. S. Zeshmarani, Sr. Scientist & Head, KVK Thoubal and Dr. S. Roma Devi, Head i/c, KVK Churachanpur were the presidium members. Dr. Deepak Singh, Sr. Scientist & Head, KVK Chandel presented the Annual Report 2019 -20, while Action Plan 2020-21 was presented by concern Subject Matter Specialists of the department, wherein valuable feedback and suggestions were taken into consideration and incorporated in the Action Plan. In total, 29 stakeholders including farmer representatives have attended the meeting.

Chandel, 31/01/2020:

Two days Capacity Building programme on scientific cultivation of high yielding varieties like rapeseed mustard, lentil and fieldpea under rain fed condition for doubling income was inaugurated today at KVK Chandel. The programme was sponsored by ICAR – Indian Institute of Agricultural Biotechnology, Ranchi. Shri Krishna Kumar, Deputy Commissioner, Chandel; Dr. N. Prakash, Joint Director, ICAR – Manipur Centre and Dr. Deepak Singh were the presidium members.

Thereafter the inaugural programme technical session was conducted by KVK experts for the farmers relating to the scientific cultivation of high yielding varieties – rapeseed mustard, lentil and fieldpea under rain fed condition for doubling income. The capacity building programme was attended by 150 farmers from Chandel District and staff of KVK Chandel.

Chandel, 28/01/2020: Webcast of Prime Minister speech on Global Potato Conclave 2020 was conducted by KVKs of Imphal West, Chandel, Ukhrul, Tamenglong and Churachanpur at ICAR RC for NEH Region, Manipur Centre, Lamphelpat today with Dr. N. Prakash, Joint Director as the dignitary. 62 farmers from the different district of Manipur attended the programme. Besides, staff of ICAR – KVKs, Manipur also attended the programme. Thereafter the programme, interaction between scientists and farmers was also conducted.

Chandel, 11/01/2020:

One day Awareness Programme of Cluster Demonstration on Organic Farming under Paramparagat Krishi Vikas Yojana (PKVY) was conducted today at Bolok Village, Chakpikarong Block in Chandel District. The Programme was organised by KVK Chandel. PKVY is an extended component of Soil Health Management (SHM) under the Centrally Sponsored Scheme (CSS), National Mission on Sustainable Agriculture (NMSA). PKVY aims at supporting and promoting organic farming, in turn resulting in improvement of soil health. The programme was launched and initiated to promote organic farming through cluster approach. The objective is to produce agricultural products free from chemicals and pesticides residues by adopting eco-friendly, low-cost technologies. The gathering was briefed on the programmes and activities to be undertaken under PKVY. Training on “Importance of Organic Farming and its practices” and “Own Saved Seed Production for Organic Farming” was also conducted by Dr. Kl. Levish Chongloi, SMS (Agronomy) and Ts. Leenda Monsang, SMS (Plant Breeding) respectively. Later, field visit and group discussion was organised along with the farmers. The programme was attended by Bd. Monishing, Chief of Bolok Village and 52 farmers.

Chandel: 23/12/2019:

Kisan Mela was conducted from 20th – 23th December, 2019 and National Mushroom Day cum Kisan Diwas was also conducted on 23^rd December, 2019 at ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Manipur Centre with the title Bridging Lab to Land Gap for Doubling the Farmers’ Income. The programme was organized by ICAR – Manipur Centre in collaboration with AICRP Centre on Mushroom, ICAR RC NEHR, Manipur Centre; Agri – Business Incubation Centre, ICAR RC NEHR, Manipur Centre and ICAR – KVK Imphal West, Chandel, Tamenglong, Ukhrul and Churachanpur.
