To provide awareness about the Central sponsored Government schemes, the 6th District Forum of Chandel District for village leaders, Self Help Groups and Officials of District Line Departments was held at RPDF Meeting Hall, Nungourok village in Chandel district today.
The program was organised by the Rural Peoples Development Federation (RPDF) in partnership with North-East India Committee on Relief and Development (NEICORD) with the objective of improving access to information and delivery of public schemes in remote and backward districts of NE India, our correspondent reports.
During the program, District Horticulture and Soil Conservation Chandel Deputy Director K Brojen, District Agriculture Office Chandel Deputy Director Y Shyam, KVK Chandel Program Coordinator GP Kabui and DRDA Chandel Project Officer D Stephen Modar deliberated on Government schemes and projects taken up by the department in the district.
Besides village chiefs, village authority members, leaders of Self Help Groups, NGOs and Church leaders of the district, NEICORD’s Chandel district Coordinator M Wanlalkhup and
RPDF’s vice-president D Solomon also attended the program.

Chandel 17/09/2016: Two food processing centres were opened at Khangshim village and Liwa Sarei village, Chandel district simultaneously today. The food processing centres namely, Lamjing Food Processing Centre and Apihaang Food Processing Centre were opened under the sponsorship of Tribal Sub Plan (TSP) supported by ICAR – RC for NEH Region, Manipur Centre and KVK- Chandel. Dr N Prakash, Joint Director, ICAR – RC for NEH Region, Manipur Centre; T Shangneidar, Khangshim Village Authority member and Dr SS Roy, Scientist (Horticulture) and Nodal Officer (TSP) graced the inauguration of Lamjing Food Processing Centre at Khangshim village as presidium members. at the same time, inauguration of Aapihaang Food Processing Centre at Liwa Sarei village was attended by Dr N Prakash, Joint Director, ICAR – RC for NEH Region, Manipur Centre; Ts Ngamtin Monsang, chief, Liwa Sarei Village and Dr SS Roy Scientist (Horticulture) and Nodal Officer (TSP) as presidium members. The two food processing unit inaugural programmes were also attended by staff of KVK Chandel.
