Jai Kisan Jai Vigyan was organized at Monsang Pantha village, Chandel District. It was organized in commemoration of the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee and late Shri Chaudhary Charan Singh, keeping in view of their immense contribution for promoting use of science for the welfare of farmers. During the event drawing competition was organized for the school going children. Technical and interaction session was also conducted for the farmers with experts from KVK Chandel as resource persons. Value added products like Passion fruit ready to serve and pineapple squash were demonstrated and distributed to the farmers in the event. The event was conducted specially for marginal farmers, women farmers and school children.

Inputs like tree bean, papaya and marigold saplings; Vanaraja chicks, feederer and waterer, vitamins, mineral and anthelmentics were distributed to the farmers. A total of 50 farmers and 20 school children attended the programme.

To provide awareness about the Central sponsored Government schemes, the 6th District Forum of Chandel District for village leaders, Self Help Groups and Officials of District Line Departments was held at RPDF Meeting Hall, Nungourok village in Chandel district today.
The program was organised by the Rural Peoples Development Federation (RPDF) in partnership with North-East India Committee on Relief and Development (NEICORD) with the objective of improving access to information and delivery of public schemes in remote and backward districts of NE India, our correspondent reports.
During the program, District Horticulture and Soil Conservation Chandel Deputy Director K Brojen, District Agriculture Office Chandel Deputy Director Y Shyam, KVK Chandel Program Coordinator GP Kabui and DRDA Chandel Project Officer D Stephen Modar deliberated on Government schemes and projects taken up by the department in the district.
Besides village chiefs, village authority members, leaders of Self Help Groups, NGOs and Church leaders of the district, NEICORD’s Chandel district Coordinator M Wanlalkhup and
RPDF’s vice-president D Solomon also attended the program.

Chief Guest distributing Soil Health Card to farmers

World Soil Health Day was observed on 5th December, 2016 at KVK-Chandel’s Training Hall. The event was attended by Shri. Sh. Manglem, Member District Council, Chandel; Shri. KT. Hary, Member District Council, Chandel and Dr. Deepak Singh, Programme Coordinator, KVK Chandel as Chief Guest, Guest of Honour and President respectively. The event was mark with distribution of Soil Card to the farmers and training by experts relating to Soil health card and soil testing.

One day training cum input injection programme on promotion of improved technologies of pulses production was conducted on 10th November, 2016 at Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Chandel. The programme was organised by ICAR – RC for NEH Region, Manipur Centre in collaboration with KVK- Chandel. The training was attended by Dr. SV Ngachan, Director, ICAR RC for NEH Region, Umiam, Meghalaya; Dr. N. Prakash, Joint Director, ICAR- Manipur Centre, Dr. Anup Das, Nodal Officer (Pulses), ICAR RC for NEH Region, Umiam , Dr. MA Ansari, Scientist (Agronomy), Dr. SK Sharma, Scientist (Plant Pathology) of ICAR, Manipur Centre; Dr. Y. Ramakrisna, Programme Coordinator, KVK-Ukhrul; GP Kabui, Programme Coordinator i/c, KVK-Chandel and staff of Kvk Chandel. Inputs like Pea, Lentil, Broadbean, Rhizobium, PSB, KSB, Zinc bio- fertilizer and Nitro fix were distributed to the farmers. In all together 50 farmers from Chandel, Machi and Tengnoupal Blocks of Chandel District attended the training.

Chandel  17/09/2016: Two food processing centres were opened at Khangshim village and Liwa Sarei village, Chandel district simultaneously today. The food processing centres namely, Lamjing Food Processing Centre and Apihaang Food Processing Centre were opened under  the sponsorship of Tribal Sub Plan (TSP) supported by ICAR – RC for NEH Region, Manipur Centre and KVK- Chandel. Dr N Prakash, Joint Director, ICAR – RC for NEH Region, Manipur Centre; T Shangneidar, Khangshim Village Authority member and Dr SS Roy, Scientist (Horticulture) and Nodal Officer (TSP) graced the inauguration of Lamjing Food Processing Centre at Khangshim village as presidium members. at the same time, inauguration of Aapihaang Food Processing Centre at Liwa Sarei village was attended by Dr N Prakash, Joint Director, ICAR – RC for NEH Region, Manipur Centre; Ts Ngamtin Monsang, chief, Liwa Sarei Village and Dr SS Roy Scientist (Horticulture) and Nodal Officer (TSP) as presidium members. The two food processing unit inaugural programmes were also attended by staff of KVK Chandel.
