
08/03/2022, Chandel: The Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Chandel celebrated the International Women’s Day 2022 on 8th March with the theme “Empowering Women Farmers with Skill and Knowledge”. Ksh. Prabha Devi, District Horticulture and Soil Conservation Officer, Chandel, Mrs. Ts. Martha Monsang, Women Church Leader, Monsang Pantha and Dr. Asem Ameeta Devi, Head i/c, KVK Chandel were the Chief Guest, Guest of Honour and President respectively. The programme was moderated by Ts. Leenda Monsang, SMS(Plant Breeding). Welcome and key note address was given by Dr. Y Prabhabati Devi, ACTO (Home Science). She elaborated the “Role of Women in Agriculture and entrepreneurship development” for empowering women and underscored for income generating activities by women farmers through attaining skill of agro-processing and value addition.
In recognition of the contribution in the field of agriculture and allied sectors, a felicitation was conducted for the successful women entrepreneurs and women farmers from Chandel District. Dr. Asem Ameeta Devi Head i/c, KVK Chandel in her speech, she emphasized on the women’s empowerment and development of women entrepreneurs for better socio-economic development. While, Ts. Martha Monsang, Women Church President, Chandel, spoke on the importance of education. She also elaborated that educated women can only bring socio- economic changes in the society. Chief Guest Ksh. Prabha Devi stressed on the rights of the women and different act against discrimination of women.
During the programme, an exhibition was also conducted showcasing the product produced by the women entrepreneurs and farm women. The programme ended with vote of thanks by Dr. Kl. Levis Chonloi, ACTO (Agronomy).












In the second session, Ts. Gladney Monsang, District Agriculture Officer, Chandel and Ng. Barbara President Women Development Society, Monsang Pantha Village graced the function as Chief Guest, Guest of Honour respectively in the International Women’s Day celebration at Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Chandel. Dr. Y. Prabhabati Devi, SMS (Home Science.) welcomed the dignitaries, students and the Farm Women.
She gave the keynote address on International Women’s Day. During the function, prizes were also distributed to the students for debate competition on Women Empowerment. 7 women entrepreneurs were also felicitated on the occasion.
