Chandel, 16/09/2021: Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Chandel, ICAR Regional Centre for NEH Region Manipur Centre conducted a field day programme on soybean variety DSB-19 under Cluster Front Line Demonstration on Oilseeds 2021-2022 at Lambung village, Chandel district today. The programme was held at Lambung village community hall under the sponsorship of National Food Security Mission was attended by district agriculture officer Chandel Ts Gladney Monsang as chief guest, KVK Chandel head in-charge Dr Ashem Ameeta Devi as functional president and Lambung village chief Dy Alam as guest of honour. Speaking on the occasion, KVK Chandel SMS (Agronomy) Dr Kl Levish Chongloi explained that DSB-19 is a soybean variety produced by UAS Dharwad which is very suitable to the soil of Chandel and resistant to pest attack while informing that if properly grown it can yield 2-2.5 tonnes from one hectare of land within 105-115 days. KVK Chandel under the National Food Security Mission has helped self-help groups (SHGs) of Chandel in planting the DSB-19 variety in 10 hectares of land. The main aim is to increase oilseeds production and provide an alternative income generation to the farmers. As part of the programme, selective SHGs were provided seeds of winter crops. Later, field visit and  inspection was done at farmlands growing DSB-19 variety. The programme was also attended by staff of KVK Chandel.

Chandel, 15/09/2021:

The five days long Training cum Demonstration on Post harvest management and value addition of fruits and vegetables which commenced on 10/09/2021 concluded today at KVK Chandel. The programme was organized by KVK Chandel and sponsored by CTRI, Rajahmundry. Ts. Gladney Monsang, District Agriculture Officer, Chandel; Ng. Vincent Monsang, Chief Monsangpantha village and Dr. A. Ameeta Devi, Head in-charge of ICAR-KVK Chandel were  Chief Guest, Guest of Honour and President respectively.

            Speaking on the occasion, Ts Gladney Monsang stressed on generating double income for farmers to sustain their livelihood by implementing the skills gained through the training programme. Ng Vincent Monsang encouraged the farmers to inculcate export rather than import of goods for growth & development and urged them to adopt new agriculture methods and technologies.. Dr. A. Ameeta Devi, expressed her gratitude to the farmers for attending enthusiastically and completing the training. While Dr. Y. Prabhabati Devi, SMS (Home Science) and course coordinator  of the programme gave the keynote address. During the valedictory session, certificates were distributed to the trainees and exhibition was also conducted. The valedictory programme was also attended by staff of KVK Chandel.

Chandel, 10/09/2021:

Five days Training cum Demonstration on Post harvest management and value addition of fruits and vegetables was launched today at KVK Chandel. The programme was organized by KVK Chandel and sponsored by CTRI, Rajahmundry. The training was inaugurated by Sh. Manglem Monsang, former MDC, 11^th Pantha, Chandel Autonomous District Council. In his speech Sh. Manglem Monsang encourage the farmers to adopt the scientific method taught by experts on ash gourd cultivation and its processing and value addition for generating income. Dr. A. Ameeta Devi, Head in-charge of ICAR-KVK Chandel requested the farmers to participate the training till the last day of the five day training to gain knowledge on post harvest management and value addition of fruits and vegetables which are locally available in the district and while Dr. Y. Prabhabati Devi, SMS (Home Science) gave the keynote address.

            In the technical session, P. Surbala Devi, Asst. Prof. Govt. Polytechnique College, Tura spoke on Processing and value addition of ash gourd and preparation of ash gourd jam. The training was attended by 20 farmers and staff of KVK Chandel.

Chandel, 17/07/2021:

Training on Scientific beekeeping under National Bee-Keeping & Honey Mission Sponsored by National Bee Board, was conducted today at Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Chandel, ICAR Manipur Centre. The training programme was inaugurated by SDC, Chandel, Mothel Saka, as Chief Guest, Mrs. Ts. Gladney Monsang, District Agriculture Officer, Agriculture Department, Chandel as Guest of Honour and Dr. A. Ameeta Devi, Head, KVK Chandel as Functional President.
Speaking on the occasion Mr. Mothel Saka, SDC Chandel elaborates the economics of honey bee and honey for the upliftment of rural people. Mrs. Mrs. Ts. Gladney Monsang, District Agriculture Officer, Agriculture Department, Chandel also spoke on how honeybee can enhance the source of income for the farmers along with increase in crop production.
The key note address was given by Dr. Kl Levish Chongloi, SMS (Agronomy). She spoke on the objectives of Bee-keeping and Honey Mission, the role of bee-keeping in increasing food security, improving nutrition and its key ecosystem service for agriculture.
Resource person Dr. N. Johnson Singh SMS (Plant Protection), KVK Churachandpur spoke on the topic of Identification and Scope of Bee-keeping, Identification of Bee Species and Honey and its value addition. The programme was attended by 65 farmers from different villages of the district and staff of KVK Chandel.

22/03/2021 Chandel: World Water Day was observed in KVK Chandel, the programme was attended by Chandel Deputy Commissioner Shri Mayanglambam Rajkumar, IAS. On the occasion of the auspicious day drawing competition was held and the Prize was distributed by Deputy Commissioner Shri Mayanglambam Rajkumar to the students of   St. Peter Higher Secondary School, Monsangpantha. During the observance of the World Water Day, a virtual launching of Jal Shakti Abhiyan 2021 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi was also telecast to the audience. In total 43 farmers and 11 students attended the main programme along with the staff of KVK Chandel.

Chandel, 08/03/2021:

International Women’s Day was celebrated at Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Chandel with the theme “Women Leadership in Agriculture: Entrepreneurship, Equity and Empowerment” today. In the first session of the programme, online programme of the celebration attended by Hon’ble Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare and other dignitaries were shown to the participants. In the second session, Ts. Gladney Monsang, District Agriculture Officer, Chandel and Ng. Barbara President Women Development Society, Monsang Pantha Village graced the function as Chief Guest, Guest of Honour respectively in the International Women’s Day celebration at Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Chandel. Dr. Y. Prabhabati Devi, SMS (Home Science.) welcomed the dignitaries, students and the Farm Women. She gave the keynote address on International Women’s Day. During the function, prizes were also distributed to the students for debate competition on Women Empowerment. 7 women entrepreneurs were also felicitated on the occasion.

Ts. Gladney Monsang, District Agriculture Officer, Chandel encouraged the farm women to be empowered  in adopting new agriculture technologies as well as  accessing to financial services offered by public and private sectors. She also emphasize for involving in decision making and developing our society. Ng. Barbara President Women Development Society, Monsang Pantha Village also stress women empowerment and entrepreneurship development to sustain one’s family and society as a whole. During the programme, exhibition of farm produced and value added products of the women entrepreneurs under KVK Chandel were displayed. The programme was attended by 43 farm women, students and staff of KVK Chandel.

Chandel, 06/02/2021: Two days training cum demonstration programme on “Production, Post Harvest Management and Value Addition of Citrus Fruit” organised by Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Chandel and sponsored by Central Institute of Horticulture, Nagaland concluded today. Dr. Y. Prabhabati Devi, Course Coordinator gave key note address and conducted demonstration on Processing of Orange, Lime and Amla. Dr. Ch. Premabati Devi, Scientist (Horticulture) delivered lecture on the topic “Production Technology of Citrus Fruits” and Dr. Arati Ningombam, Scientist (Entomology) delivered lecture on the topic “Insect Pest Management in Citrus”. The programme concluded with vote of thanks from Dr. A. Ameeta Devi, Head, KVK Chandel. The programme was attended by  26 farmers and staff of KVK Chandel.

Chandel, 30/10/2020:

KVK, Chandel celebrated one month long POSHAN MAAH during the month of September, 2020. As a part of the programme, awareness training cum demonstration for AWW, farm women and adolescent girls were conducted on the theme “Importance of nutri-thali, nutrition gardening and biofortified  food for the eradication of malnutrition and also for food and nutritional security”. During the programme, nutri-thali from locally available fruits and vegetables of different ethnic groups were developed. Different types of garden such as backyard nutri-garden, terrace garden and vertical garden with different biofortified varieties were popularized for getting all year round good nutrition. Krishak Ghosti for AWW and farm women were organized and nutri-seed kits sponsored by IFFCO were also distributed. Other nutri-seeds and fruits plants were also distributed for the establishment of nutri-garden at AWW centres and at KVK garden too. Package of practices for growing of different nutri-vegetables were also distributed to AWW and farm women. Nutrition gardens were established at Anganwadi centre and KVK farm under POSHAN MAAH celebration.

29/09/2020, Chandel:

A two days training cum Input injection programme  on “Cultivation of Sweet/Baby corn in Maize based Cropping System to insure 300% cropping intensity” sponsored under Maize collaborative Project: ICAR-Indian Institute of Maize Research, PAU Campus, Ludhiana, Punjab organized jointly by Krishi Vigyan Kendra Chandel and ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region Manipur Centre, Imphal West has been started today at Conference Hall, Krishi Vigyan Kendra-Chandel. The  function was grace by Shri. Ruwndar David Boyes, International Humanitarian and Development-Freelane Consultant and currently involve in Farming and Coffee plantation. Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Guest addressed the participants to put in their best efforts in farming activities. He also inculcated the farmers that curiosity and adopting scientific farming are the component of a successful farmer.

Dr. Kl. Levish (Agronomy) KVK Chandel spoke on the importance and its Scientific Techniques of growing Sweet/Baby corn. The programme was attended by  30 farmers from different  villages of Chandel District and staff of KVK Chandel were also participated in the said programme. Inputs like Hybrid Sweet Corn, Mustard, Pea were also distributed to the farmers.

Chandel, 17/09/2020:

Poshan Abhiyan cum Farm women training was conducted today at Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Chandel in collaboration with IFFCO. The event was attended by Sh. Manglem Monsang,  11^th Pantha, Member of District Council, Autonomous District Council, Chandel;  Roshnichand Devi,  CDPO, Department of Social Welfare, Chandel, Government of Manipur and Dr. Deepak Singh, Sr. Scientist & Head, KVK Chandel as Chief Guest, Guest of Honour and President respectively. The Government of India has launched Poshan Abhiyaan, a multi-ministerial convergence mission with a vision to address malnutrition in a targeted approach to bring nutrition to the centre-stage of the National Development Agenda. And under Poshan Abhiyaan, the month of September is observed as Poshan Maah or Nutrition month every year, since 2018. Sh. Manglem Monsang in his speech encourage the Anganwadi Workers and Farm Women to take care of their health and their family by adopting knowledge taught by the experts and emphasize health is wealth. Roshnichand Devi while delivering her speech, she inculcated the participants who were being invited from all the blocks of the district to mobilize and bolster people’s participation to bring nutrition awareness in each family of the district.  Dr. Deepak Singh informed that KVK is popularizing nutrition gardening in the district and various training on nutrition has been conducted. He requested the participants to approach KVK for knowledge transfer and training they require. During the event, training programme on the topic of models of Nutri-garden, Nutri-thali for balanced diet, bio-fortified varieties in nutrition and Package of practices of vegetables & horticultural crops were taught by KVK experts – Dr. Y. Prabhabati Devi, SMS (Home Science) cum Nodal Officer – Poshan Maah, Chandel; Ts. Leenda Monsang, SMS (Plant Breeding) and Ps. Lavid Anal, SMS (Horticulture).  Thereafter, vegetable seeds were distributed to the participants. 40 Anganwadi Workers, 16 farm women of the district and staff of KVK Chandel have attended the said event.
