Poshan Abhiyan cum Farm women training conducted

Poshan Abhiyan cum Farm women training was conducted today at Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Chandel in collaboration with IFFCO. The event was attended by Sh. Manglem Monsang,  11th Pantha, Member of District Council, Autonomous District Council, Chandel;  Roshnichand Devi,  CDPO, Department of Social Welfare, Chandel, Government of Manipur and Dr. Deepak Singh, Sr. Scientist & Head, KVK Chandel as Chief Guest, Guest of Honour and President respectively. The Government of India has launched Poshan Abhiyaan, a multi-ministerial convergence mission with a vision to address malnutrition in a targeted approach to bring nutrition to the centre-stage of the National Development Agenda. And under Poshan Abhiyaan, the month of September is observed as Poshan Maah or Nutrition month every year, since 2018. Sh. Manglem Monsang in his speech encourage the Anganwadi Workers and Farm Women to take care of their health and their family by adopting knowledge taught by the experts and emphasize health is wealth. Roshnichand Devi while delivering her speech, she inculcated the participants who were being invited from all the blocks of the district to mobilize and bolster people’s participation to bring nutrition awareness in each family of the district.  Dr. Deepak Singh informed that KVK is popularizing nutrition gardening in the district and various training on nutrition has been conducted. He requested the participants to approach KVK for knowledge transfer and training they require. During the event, training programme on the topic of models of Nutri-garden, Nutri-thali for balanced diet, bio-fortified varieties in nutrition and Package of practices of vegetables & horticultural crops were taught by KVK experts – Dr. Y. Prabhabati Devi, SMS (Home Science) cum Nodal Officer – Poshan Maah, Chandel; Ts. Leenda Monsang, SMS (Plant Breeding) and Ps. Lavid Anal, SMS (Horticulture).  Thereafter, vegetable seeds were distributed to the participants. 40 Anganwadi Workers, 16 farm women of the district and staff of KVK Chandel have attended the said event.
