Live telecast of Pradhan Mantri KIsan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN)

Chandel, 24/02/2019: The live Telecast/Webcast of inauguration of PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Scheme was conducted at Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Chandel at KVK Chandel’s Conference Hall, Monsangpantha, Chandel. At the onset of the programme Dr. Deepak Singh, Sr. Scientist & Head, KVK Chandel gave the keynote address on the programme while Th. Motilal Singh, ACTO (Agril. Extension) brief the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Scheme to the farmers thereafter the live telecast of Honorable Prime Minister Maan Ki Baat and inaugural programme of the scheme PM Kisan Samman Nidhi was telecast. The programme was attended by 70 farmers and staff of KVK Chandel.

Chandel 16/02/2019: The 14th Scientific Advisory Committee meeting was conducted at Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Chandel today. Shri Mahesh Choudhuri, IAS, AC to DC, Chandel; Dr. N. Prakash, Director, ICAR RC for NEH Region, Umiam Meghalaya; Dr. Anjani Kumar Jha, Nodal Officer KVK, ICAR Umiam and Dr. I.M. Singh, Joint Director, ICAR Manipur Centre were on the dais as Chief Guest, President and Guest of Honours. The meeting was also attended by Dr. SS. Roy, Sr. Scientist (Horticulture), ICAR Manipur Centre; Dr. PK Saraswat, Sr. Scientist & Head, KVK Tamenglong; Dr. Nirangjanlal, Sr. Scientist & Head, KVK CCpur; Dr. Y. Ramakrishna, Sr. Scientist & Head, KVK Ukhrul; Smt. Gladny Monsang, DAO, Chandel; Smt. Honey Chara, DO, Horticulture & Soil Conservation; Dr. Rd. Samery DVO, Chandel; Progressive Farmers and Staff of KVK Chandel. On the onset of the meeting Dr. Deepak Singh, Sr. Scientist & Head, KVK Chandel presented the Annual Report (2018- 19) and Action Plan (2019-20). Thereafter  the SAC, Dr. N. Prakash, Director, ICAR RC for NEH Region, Umiam Meghalaya inaugurated a Demonstration Unit of Protected Cultivation (Polyhouse) at KVK Chandel Farm.

Inauguration of Micro Irrigation System under Krishi Kalyan Abhiyan – II cum Review Meeting of KVK Chandel

Chandel, 21/12/2018: Inauguration of Micro Irrigation System under Krishi Kalyan Abhiyan – II was conducted to at Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Chandel’s Farm. The Micro Irrigation System was inaugurated by Dr. Bidyut C. Deka, Director, ICAR – Agricultural Technology Application Research Institute (ATARI), Zone – VII in the presence of Dr. I. Meghachandra Singh, Joint Director, ICAR Research Complex, Manipur Centre and Nodal Officer, Krishi Kalyan Abhiyan – II, Chandel, Dr. Deepak Singh, Sr. Scientist & Head, KVK Chandel and Ts. Gladny Monsang, District Agriculture Officer, Agriculture Department, Chandel. The programme was also attended by Dr. K. Sonamani Singh, ACTO (Agril. Engg.); Ts. Leenda Monsang, ACTO (Plant Breeding); Dr. Kl. Levis Chongloi, ACTO (Agronomy); Dr. A. Ameeta Devi, ACTO (Animal Science); D. Doungel, TO (CA) and Kamei Super, TO (FM) of KVK Chandel and progressive farmers from Krishi Kalyan Abhiyan – II aspirational villages.
Thereafter the inauguration programme, review meeting of progress report according to Action Plan of KVK Chandel for the current year was conducted in the chair with Dr. Bidyut C. Deka, Director, ICAR – Agricultural Technology Application Research Institute (ATARI), Zone – VII and Staff of KVK Chandel. The meeting ends with vote of thanks from Dr. Deepak Singh, Sr. Scientist and Head, KVK Chandel.

Observance of World Soil Day cum Training on Soil Health Management conducted

Chandel 5th December, 2018: Observance of World Soil Health Day cum training on Soil Health Management was conducted today the 5th December, 2018 at KVK, Chandel. The theme of event “Be the Solution to Soil Pollution” aims to raise awareness of the importance of soil quality for human well-being, food security and ecosystems. The programme was attended by Mahesh Chaudhari, I.A.S. Assistant Commissioner, Chandel; Dr. K. Sonamani Singh, ACTO(Agril. Engg.), Dr. Kl. Levis Chongloi, ACTO (Agronomy), Th. Motilal Singh, ACTO (Agril. Extn.), Dr. A. Ameeta Devi, ACTO (Animal Science) and D. Doungel, TO (CA) of KVK Chandel. During the programme, training was also conducted in coinciding with the event and 500 soil health cards were also distributed to the farmers. Dr. Kl. Levis Chongloi, ACTO (Agronomy) was the resource person on Soil Health Management training.

Training under KKA -II at Ziontlang

Chandel, 26.10.2018: A one day training programme on Bee keeping, Mushroom Cultivation, Nutrition Gardening and awareness programme on Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojna under “Krishi Kalyan Abhiyan – II” was conducted at Ziontlang village for the villages of Ziontlang, Chandonpokpi and Old Wangparal , Chandel. Dr. Deepak Singh, Sr. Scientist & Head, KVK Chandel gave the keynote address on  Krishi Kalyan Abhiyan – II for doubling the income of the farmers.

In the training session, topic on Bee keeping, Mushroom Cultivation and Nutrition Gardening and awareness programme for Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojna (PMFBY), which provides comprehensive crop insurance to the farmer, the resource persons were  Dr. N. Johnson Singh, ACTO (Plant Protection), KVK Churachandpur; Dr. Kl. Levis Chongloi, ACTO (Agronomy) and Dr. Y. Prabhabati Devi, ACTO (Home Science) of KVK Chandel and SP. Lovejoy Anal, SMDC/SDAO of Agriculture Department, Chandel respectively.  Thereafter the training, an interaction programme was also conducted with the farmers along with technical experts. The training was also attended by Th. Motilal Singh, ACTO (Agriculture Extension), Ts. Leenda Monsang, ACTO (Plant Breeding), Kamei Super, Technical officer (Farm) and D. Doungel, Technical Officer (Computer) of KVK Chandel; Y. Romeo Chothe, Chief of Chandonpokpi; R. Judeson, Chief Ziontlang; Mk. Rutung, Chief Old Wangparal; Th. Menthing, Chothe Tribe President. All in all the training was attended by 178 farmers from Ziontlang, Chandonpokpi and Old Wangparal.

Training under KKA -II at Modi village

Chandel, 18.10.2018: 

 A one day training programme on Bee keeping, Mushroom Cultivation, Nutrition Gardening and awareness programme on Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojna under “Krishi Kalyan Abhiyan – II” was conducted  at Modi village for the villagers of Modi and Hnatham , Chandel.

The inaugural programme was attended by Shri. Krishna Kumar, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, Chandel; Dr. IM Singh, Joint Director, ICAR RC for NEH Region, Manipur Centre and Nodal Officer of Krishi Kalyan Abhiyan, Chandel; Dr. Deepak Singh, Sr. Scientist & Head, KVK Chandel; Kh. Surchandra Singh, Joint Director, District Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Department, Chandel; Ts. Gladny Monsang, District Agriculture Officer, Chandel and Honey Chara, District Officer,  Horticulture & Soil Conservation, Chandel.

In the training Session, topic on Bee keeping, Mushroom Cultivation and Nutrition Gardening and awareness programme for Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojna (PMFBY), which is one of the flagship schemes of the Government of India that provides comprehensive crop insurance to the farmers against crop yield losses caused due to various natural calamities and other mis-happenings were conducted by Krishi Vigyan Kendra’s experts. Thereafter the training, an interaction programme was also conducted with the farmers along with technical experts namely Dr. A. Ameeta Devi, ACTO (Animal Science), Dr. Y. Prabhabati Devi, ACTO (Home Science), Ts. Leenda Monsang, ACTO (Plant Breeding), Th. Motilal Singh, ACTO (Agriculture Extension) of KVK Chandel and  Dr. N. Johnson Singh, ACTO  (Plant Protection), KVK Churachandpur.

The training was also attended by Dr. K. Sonamani Singh, ACTO (Agriculture Engineering), Kamei Super, Technical officer (Farm) and D. Doungel, Technical Officer (Computer) of KVK Chandel. The training was attended by more than 150 farmers from Modi and Hnatham village.

Krishi Kalyan Abhiyan – II launched

Chandel 02.10.2018: Krishi Kalyan Abhiyan-II was launched today at Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Chandel. The Ministry of Agriculture Cooperation and farmers Welfare launched the abhiyan to boost agriculture and allied activities in aspirational districts, said a statement of Joint Director I Meghachandra Singh, ICAR Manipur Centre.

Deputy Commissioner Chandel Krishna Kumar, Joint Director ICAR Manipur Centre I Meghachandra Singh, AC to DC Chandel Mahesh Chaudari, Joint Director Veterinary Department Chandel Dr Y Surchandra Singh, Sr Scientist KVK Chandel Dr Deepak Singh, District Agriculture Officer Chandel Ts Gladney Monsang, District Officer Horticulture and Soil Conservation Chandel Honey Chara, staffs of various line departments attended the event.

Dr Deepak Singh presented the achievements of Krishi Kalyan Abhiyan- I and action plan for Krishi Kalyan Abhiyan-II.

Difficulties faced by the departments in the KKA-I were stressed and discussed to achieve the targeted goals in the KKA-II.

The Deputy Commissioner Chandel congratulated the KKA team for successful implementation of the KKA-I.Joint Director ICAR Manipur Centre I Meghachandra also lauded the KKA-I team for successful implementation of KKA-I and achieving category-I among the 117 aspirational districts of the country.

He encouraged the staff of KVK Chandel and all line departments to achieve the KKA-II targets.

Two days residential training on Mushroom Cultivation under KKA concluded

Chandel 21/07/2018:

A two-day residential training programme on ‘Mushroom Cultivation’ (20-21/07/2018) under Krishi Kalyan Abhiyan was concluded today at ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Manipur Centre’s Conference Hall, Lamphelpat.

The training programme was organised by Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Chandel and sponsored by Tribal Sub Plan. The valedictory programme was attended by nodal officer, KKA Chandel, Dr. I. Meghachandra Singh, senior scientist and head of KVK Chandel, Dr. Deepak Singh and senior scientist and head of KVK Tamenglong, Dr. Pankaj Kumar Saraswat.

Meghachandra, in his speech, instilled the farmers to put into practise their learning during the training and form farmer groups to support themselves, and for better marketing and coordination. He also stressed on further training on value addition and improvement of farmer skills in order to double their incomes.

The residential training witnessed the participated of 56 farmers from Monsangpantha, Rungchang, Mantak, Chandel Christian, Lamphouspasna, Purum Tampak, Japhou, Kanankhu, Kapaam, Riverlane, Phunal Sambum, Heigrutampak, Aihang, Abungnikhu, Moltuk, Thungcheng and Tampi villages.

Three days residential training on Production of Kharif oilseeds and cereal for grain and seed under KKA launched

Chandel 16/07/2018: Krishi Vigyan Kendra Chandel, as a part of Krishi Kalyan Abhiyan (KKA), has launched a 3-day residential training programme on “Production of Kharif oilseed and cereals for grain and seed” at the conference hall of the KVK in Chandel and sponsored by ATMA. The residential training will be till 18/07/2018. Dr I Meghachandra Singh, Nodal Officer, KVK, Chandel in his keynote address elaborated on the various activities carried out under Krishi Kalyan Abhiyan which started from June. The programmes under the KKA in Chandel in convergence with the State Department of Agriculture, Horticulture and Soil Conservation, Veterinary and Animal Husbandry and other line departments aimed at doubling farmers’ income by 2022. Under this, 25 villages in Chandel district have been covered, he said. P Rajendra Singh, Director, Department of Agriculture, Letkhogin Haokip, Additional Chief Secretary Agriculture and Krishna Kumar, Deputy Commissioner, Chandel spoke at the event and urged the farmers at the programme to utilize the knowledge they gain during the training programme.

Earlier, a review meeting of activities undertaken under KKA was held at the chamber of Deputy Commissioner, Chandel. The meeting was chaired by Krishna Kumar, Deputy Commissioner, Chandel. The review meeting was attended by Dr I Meghachandra Singh, Nodal Officer, KKA, Chandel, staff of KVK Chandel and line departments.

Three days residential training on Pest and Disease Management in Horticultural crops under KKA launched

A three days residential training programme on Pest and Disease Management in Horticultural crops under “Krishi Kalyan Abhiyan” was launched today at ICAR RC for NEH Region, Manipur Centre’s conference Hall, Lamphel. The residential programme was sponsored by MIDH. The launching programme was participated by K. Kipgen, Director, Horticulture and Soil Conservation, Government of Manipur; Ksh. Birachandra Singh, Joint Director (H), Horticulture and Soil Conservation, Government of Manipur; Dr. I. Meghachandra Singh, Nodal Officer, KKA – Chandel & Principal Scientist (Seed Technology), ICAR Manipur Centre, Dr. Deepak Singh, Sr. Scientist & Head, KVK Chandel and Honey Chara, District Officer, Horticulture and Soil Conservation, Chandel.

Shri K. Kipgen, Director, Deptt of Horticulture & Soil Conservation stressed that pests and diseases are a very important factor in the horticultural crop yield. The farmers need to fully utilise the talent and expertise of the resource persons so that the new technologies and knowledge gained will be reflected in their respective crop fields.

Dr. I. Meghachandra Singh, Nodal Officer, KKA – Chandel & Principal Scientist (Seed Technology), ICAR Manipur Centre elaborated on the details of the activities taken up under Krishi Kalyan Abhiyan which is being implemented in a convergence mode with the line departments. He informed the farmers to remain organic in nature and reduce severe soil degradation by reducing deforestation so as to retain the soil fertility and stressed that planting horticultural crops will play a great role in reducing the impact of global climate change.

The launching programme was attended by staff of KVK Chandel and Horticulture & Soil Conservation Department, Chandel.
