Chandel, 5/11/2026: As part of the ongoing efforts to boost crop productivity and promote sustainable farming practices, a comprehensive Field Day on the high-yielding rice variety RC Maniphou-15 was successfully conducted today at Riverlane.
Organized in synergy with the Khet Bachao Abhiyan Campaign, the event advanced the mission to safeguard agricultural fields, enhance crop resilience, and secure farming livelihoods against emerging climate and environmental challenges. The primary objective of the Field Day was to demonstrate the field performance, disease resistance, and yield potential of the RC Maniphou-15 variety directly to local cultivators. By showcasing the crop at its maturity stage, the event provided a transparent, firsthand look at how modern agricultural research translates into tangible field success.
Led by Dr. Ameeta Devi, Head and Senior Scientist, the initiative emphasized bridging the gap between scientific innovation and field practice to build a climate-resilient agricultural ecosystem. Alongside her, Dr. Khumlo Levish Chongloi, Subject Matter Specialist (Agronomy), shared expert guidance on precision crop management, optimized spacing, and strategic nutrient application to help farmers maximize their harvests.
Throughout the program, agricultural scientists and field experts engaged in interactive sessions with participating farmers, sharing vital technical guidance on best agronomic practices, integrated pest management, and optimized resource utilization for the RC Maniphou-15 variety. The coinciding Khet Bachao Abhiyan segment further educated attendees on sustainable soil health management and proactive crop protection strategies.
