Training cum Input distribution under Krishi Kalyan Abhiyan at Lambung

 

Chandel, 19/06/2018:

A one day training programme on Bee keeping, Mushroom Cultivation, Nutritional Gardening and Soybean cultivation under “Krishi Kalyan Abhiyan” was conducted on 19/06/2018  at Lambung Village, Chandel. The welcome and keynote address was given by Dr. IM Singh, Joint Director, ICAR RC for NEH Region, Manipur Centre. Additional Chief Secretary (Agriculture), Govn’t of Manipur Letkhogin Haokip, IAS emphasized the importance of farmer participation in any development programmes taken up by the Government in achieving double income and sustaining livelihood. Shri. Krishna Kumar, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, Chandel had elaborated in his speech regarding Krishi Kalyan Abhiyan and the role of district administration and line departments for bridging the gap between the villagers and the departments. He encouraged the farmers to approach any departments including his office for availing Government schemes. Dr. K. Mandharan, Director, Jute, Ministry of Agriculture, Government of India and Nodal Officer, CSS Scheme for North Eastern States shared his happiness for cooperation and coordination from the State Government, District Administration and line departments with ICAR and KVK. Director of Agriculture, P.H Rajendra Singh highlighted various projects and schemes for the farmers and informed the farmers to come forward for successful implementation of the Government policies. The programme was also participated by Dr. Deepak Singh, Sr. Scientist, KVK Chandel; Kh. Surchandra Singh, Joint Director, District Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Department, Chandel; Ts. Gladny Monsang, District Agriculture Officer, Chandel and Honey Chara, District Officer, Horticulture and Soil Conservation, Chandel.
In the training Session, Dr. N. Johnson Singh, SMS (Plant Protection), KVK Churachandpur spoke on Bee keeping; K. Lily Rangnamei, SMS (Horticulture), KVK Imphal West on Mushroom Cultivation; Gunamani Singh, SMS (Plant Breeding), KVK Imphal West on Seed production while Dr. Kl. Levis Chongloi, ACTO (Agronomy), KVK Chandel spoke on Scientific cultivation of soybean and Nutritional Gardening. An interaction programme was also conducted thereafter the training between the experts and the farmers. During the programme soil health cards, cono weeders, Seeds and sapling were distributed to the beneficiaries. The training was attended by staff of ATMA-Chandel; District Agriculture Department, Chandel; District Horticulture Department, Chandel; District Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Department, Chandel and KVK Chandel.

Training cum FMD Vaccination under Krishi Kalyan Abhiyan at Japhou

Chandel 13/06/2018:

A one day training programme on Bee keeping, Mushroom Cultivation and Nutritional Gardening under “Krishi Kalyan Abhiyan” was conducted on 13/06/2018 at Japhou Village, Chandel. The welcome address was given by Dr. Deepak Singh, Sr. Scientist & Head, KVK Chandel and keynote address on the activities on Krishi Kalyan Abhiyan was given by Dr. IM Singh, Joint Director, ICAR RC for NEH Region, Manipur Centre. Shri. Krishna Kumar, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, Chandel emphasized the villagers to participate actively for achieving the goal of Krishi Kalyan Abhiyan. The programme was also participated by Central Observers Smt. Vayaila Rungsung, Dy. Secretary, Ministry of Labour & Employment, Government of India and Smt. Dharkat Rungsung, Under Secretary, Ministry of Road Transport & Highway, Government of India; Kh. Surchandra Singh, Joint Director, District Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Department, Chandel; Ts. Gladny Monsang, District Agriculture Officer, Chandel and Honey Chara, District Horticulture Officer, Chandel.
As a part of Krishi Kalyan Abhiyan programme, Foot and Mouth Disease Vaccination on cattle were also conducted by KVK Chandel in collaboration with District Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Department, Chandel.

A one day training programme on Bee keeping, Mushroom Cultivation and Nutritional Gardening under “Krishi Kalyan Abhiyan” was conducted on 11/06/2018 at New Somtal village, Chandel. The keynote address on the activities on Krishi Kalyan Abhiyan was given by Dr. Deepak Singh, Sr. Scientist & Head, KVK Chandel.
In the training Session, Dr. Kl. Levis Chongloi, ACTO (Agronomy), KVK Chandel spoke on Nutrition Gardening; Dr. N. Johnson Singh, SMS (Plant Protection), KVK Churachandpur spoke on Bee keeping and Ph. Chandramani Singh, SMS (Horticulture), KVK Churachandpur spoke on Mushroom cultivation. An interaction programme was also conducted thereafter the training between the experts and the farmers. The interaction programme also highlighted soil testing and vaccination of cattle in the follow up programmes in the village.

Training under Krishi Kalyan Abiyan at Sajiktampak

Chandel 07/06/2018:  A one day training programme on Bee keeping, Mushroom Cultivation and Nutritional Gardening under “Krishi Kalyan Abhiyan” was conducted on 07/06/2018 at Sajiktampak village, Chandel.

Dr.Deepak Singh, Senior Scientist & Head, KVK Chandel gave the keynote address on Krishi Kalyan Abhiyan, which was launched by Government of India.

In the training Session, Dr.Kl.Levis Chongloi, ACTO (Agronomy), KVK Chandel spoke on Nutrition Gardening; Dr. N. Johnson Singh, SMS (Plant Protection), KVK Churachandpur spoke on Bee keeping and K.Lily Rangnamei, SMS (Horticulture), KVK Imphal West spoke on Mushroom cultivation.

An interaction programme was also conducted thereafter the training between the experts and the farmers. The training was attended by Jamtong Kuki, Horticulture Development Officer, Chandel; Sp. Krishi Kalyan Abhiyan at Chandel Christian

Chandel 04/06/2018: Launching programme on “Krishi Kalyan Abhiyan” was organised by KVK Chandel, at Chandel Christian village, Chandel on 4/06/2018. Dr. I.M. Singh, Joint Director, ICAR RC for NEH Region, Manipur Centre and Dr. Deepak Singh, Senior Scientist & Head, KVK Chandel and Kl. Thumvol Anal, Asst. Chief Chandel Christian were the dignitaries. Dr. I. M Singh, highlighted the keynote on Krishi Kalyan Abhiyan. The programme focused on giving a boost to agriculture and allied activities in the aspirational districts. While Dr. Deepak Singh deliberated on the activities and active dissemination of latest technologies taken up by the KVK in the district.
In the training Session, Dr. Khumlo Levis, ACTO(Agronomy), KVK Chandel spoke on Mushroom cultivation; Dr. Y. Prabhabati Devi, ACTO (Home Science) spoke on Nutrition gardening and Dr. N. Johnson, SMS (Plant Protection), KVK Churachanpur spoke on Bee keeping. Altogether 50 farmers from Chandel Christian attended the training.

Training programme on Quality seed Production of Kharif cereals and oilseeds

One day training programme on Quality seed Production of Kharif cereals and oilseeds under ICAR Seed Project was conducted on 20/04/2018 at KVK Chandel, Monsang Pantha, Chandel. The training was organised by ICAR – RC for NEH Region Manipur Centre in collaboration with KVK Chandel. The training programme was attended by Dr. I.M Singh, Joint Director, ICAR-RC for NEH Region, Manipur Centre and Dr. Deepak Singh, Sr. Scientist & Head, KVK Chandel. In the technical session, Dr. I.M Singh, Joint Director, ICAR-RC for NEH Region, Manipur Centre spoke on the Concept of Quality Seed Production under participatory approach. He informed the farmers to double their income through effective seed production; S. Gunamani Singh, SMS (Plant Breeding), KVK Imphal West, spoke on package of practices of Rice Seed Production in Hill areas; Dr. Kl. Levis Chongloi, ACTO (Agronomy), KVK Chandel spoke on promoting improved technology of Kharif oilseeds production in the foothills of Chandel and Ts. Leenda Monsang, ACTO (Plant Breeding), KVK Chandel spoke on enhancing of seed production in Maize, Soybean and Groundnut in Chandel District. Thereafter, an interaction between the farmers and experts on seed production was also conducted. A total of 30 seed producing farmers had attended the training.

Training cum Awareness programme for Protection of Plant Varieties and Farmers’ Rights

A Training cum Awareness programme for Protection of Plant Varieties and Farmers’ Rights under PPV & FRA  was conducted on 8th March, 2018 at KVK Chandel. The programme was organised  by KVK Chandel and sponsored by PPV & FR Authority, Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, Government of India. The programme was attended by Shri Ksh. Siddharth, MCS, SDO, Chandel; Dr. I.M Singh, Joint Director, ICAR RC for NEH Region, Manipur Centre and Dr. Deepak Singh, Sr. Scientist and Head, KVK Chandel as Chief Guest, Guest of Honour and Functional President respectively. In the technical session, Dr. I. M Singh,  Joint Director, ICAR RC for NEH Region, Manipur Centre spoke on the “Importance of Indigenous plant varieties and local germplasm in modern agriculture”,   while  Ts. Leenda Monsang, ACTO (Plant Breeding), KVK Chandel and Shri Gunamani Singh, SMS (Plant Breeding), KVK Imphal West lectured on the topic “Registration and Protection of Plant Varieties and Farmers’ Rights under PPV & FR Act, 2001”  and “Implementation of PPV & FR Act, 2001 in India” respectively. Later on Film Show on Protection of Plant Varieties and Farmers’ Rights Act, 2001 was conducted with farmer and scientist interaction. The training was attended by farmers from different blocks of Chandel District.

Two days training programme on promoting the improved technology of maize production

The two days training programme from 05 – 06 February, 2018 on promoting the improved technology of maize production in NEH region was conducted at KVK Chandel. The programme was graced by Dr. Deepak Singh, senior scientist and head, Kvk Chandel, Dr. M. A. Ansari, scientist, ICAR Manipur center, Eric. Kanta Singh, ACTO, Imphal West and Dr. Khumlo Levish Chongloi, ACTO (Agronomy ).  The training programme organised by ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Manipur Centre, Lamphelpat, Imphal and Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Chandel under the sponsorship of ICAR- Indian Institute of Maize Research, PAU Campus, Ludhiana, Punjab. Addressing the gathering, the dignitaries at the event emphasized on the introduction of suitable high yielding varieties of maize in the hilly regions. Successful maize production in the North Eastern Himalayan Region depends on the correct choice of genotypes of maize and applications to sustain the environment as well as agricultural production since the region have complex climatic variability which is different from other parts of the country, said experts at the event. High yielding varieties (HYV) of maize are widely adopted in other parts of country, but in the NEHR, most of the farmers are growing low yielding local varieties. Maize grains are not only important for human consumption but is also an integral feed for poultry and other livestocks. Farmers in NEH region need to adopt pre kharif maize cropping system which will increase the production as compared to traditional mono-cropping system currently adopted by farmers, stated the experts. The team of scientists delivered lectures on cultivation practices- fertilizer management and soil management. The training was attended by 45 farmers from the surrounding villages of the District and the maize seed var. HQPM-1 was distributed to the farmers.
